남서울대학교에서는 제1회 ‘남서울대학교 & K-DREAM’ 주관 하에 한국어 말하기 대회’를 오는 6월 30일(목) 한국 시간으로 오전 10시~11시까지 개최할 예정이다. 이 대회 참여 대상은 미국 국적을 가진 한국어 학습자이며, 이 대회는 미국 현지 교육 기관인 ‘더 드림 스쿨’ 협력으로 진행된다.
한류에 대한 미국인들의 관심이 증가하고 있는 이 시점에서 남서울대학교는 이 대회를 통해 언어와 문화 교류의 장을 마련함으로써 양국의 상호관계를 발전시키고자 한다. 또한, 남서울대학교는 글로벌 대학으로 도약하는데 발판을 다지고, 미국인들에게는 한국어 교육에 대한 동기를 강화하는 기회가 될 것이다.
이 대회는 참가 대상자가 한국에 관련된 주제를 정하여, 원고 그리고 3분 이내의 동영상을 제출하는 방법으로 진행된다. 본선에 진출된 대상자는 현지 어디서든지 ZOOM(줌)을 통해 실시간으로 대회에 참여하여 시청할 수 있다. 참여 대상자는 청소년부(만 12세~18세), 성인부(만 18세 이상)로 한국에서 초중고를 나오지 않은 재외국민 또는 미국인으로 지정해 놓았다.
대회 준비를 위해 남서울대학에서는 국내는 물론이고 미국 내의 홍보에 전념하고 있으며, 대회 관계자 모두가 진행 준비에 만전을 기하고 있다. 이날 시상식에는 특별히 윤승용 총장과 이윤석 부총장이 참석하여 수상자에게 시상을 할 것이며, 대외국제교류처의 이상빈 처장과 더 드림 스쿨 심수목 대표도 함께 참석할 예정이다.
제1회 ‘남서울대학교 & K-DREAM’ 한국어 말하기 대회는 또한 적지 않은 상금을 엄정한 심사를 통해 지급할 계획인데 ‘1등’은 500달러 상당 아마존 e 기프트 카드, ‘2등’ 250달러 상당 아마존 e 기프트 카드, ‘3등’ 25달러 상당 아마존 e 기프트 카드, ‘참가상’ 2주 온라인 수강권이다. 참가신청은 6월 10일까지인데 현재 적지 않은 미국인들이 참여하고 있으며, 마감일까지 더 많은 미국인이 한국어 말하기 대회에 참여할 것으로 예상된다.
또한 이번 대회 개최를 위해 K-DREAM에서는 수상 등급에 따라 1개월~3개월에 따른 온라인 한국어 학습 수강권을 상금과 함께 제공한다. K-DREAM은 1:1 맞춤형 플랫폼을 통해 세계 어디서든지 온라인으로 한국어 수업에 참여할 수 있게 하는 신개념 교육기관이다. K-DREAM은 이번 대회에 남서울대학교와 호흡을 맞춰 적극적인 후원과 참여로 훈훈함을 주고 있으며 한국어와 한국 문화 보급에 앞장서고 있다. 이 대회를 통해 한국어와 한국 문화에 대한 미국인들의 관심이 더욱 높아질 것이라는 전망이다.

The 1st Namseoul University & K-DREAM Korean Speech Contest Held..
Namseoul University will hold the first Korean Speech Contest under the auspices of Namseoul University & K-DREAM from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Korean time on June 30 (Thursday).
Participants in the competition are Korean language learners with U.S. citizenship, and the competition will be held in cooperation with “The Dream School,” a local Korean education institution in the U.S.
At a time when Americans’ interest in the Korean Wave is increasing, Namseoul University hopes to develop mutual relations between the two countries by providing a venue for language and cultural exchange through the competition. In addition, Namseoul University will gain a foothold in becoming a global university, and it will be an opportunity for Americans to strengthen their motivation for Korean language education.
The competition will be held by the participants selecting topics related to Korea and submitting manuscripts and videos within three minutes. Those eligible for the finals can participate in the competition and watch it in real time through ZOOM anywhere in the region.
Participants are the youth category (12 to under 18 years old) and the adult category (over 18 years old) and have been designated as overseas Koreans or Americans who have not graduated from elementary, middle and high schools in Korea.
To prepare for the competition, Namseoul University is dedicated to promoting not only in Korea but also in the United States, and all officials of the competition are making every effort to prepare for the event. President Seung-yong Yoon and Vice President Yoon-seok Lee will attend the ceremony to present the award, while Sang-bin Lee, director of the International Exchange Agency, and Simon Shim, President of The Dream School, will also attend.
The first “Namseoul University & K-DREAM” Korean Speech Contest also plans to pay a considerable amount of prize through strict screening, with “first place” being an e-gift card worth $500, “second place” being an e-gift card worth $250, “third place” being an e-gift card worth $25 and “the participation award” being a two-week online pass.
Not a few Americans are currently participating, and many Americans are expected to participate in the Korean Speech Contest by the deadline for applications.
In addition, to hold this competition, K-DREAM will provide online Korean language learning classes for one to three months according to the award grade along with prize money.
K-DREAM is a new concept educational institution that allows students to participate in Korean classes online anywhere in the world through a 1:1 customized platform. K-DREAM is working with Namseoul University to give warm support and participation to the competition and is taking the lead in spreading Korean language and culture. The competition is expected to further increase Americans’ interest in Korean language and culture.
