MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:
This position is responsible for the utilization of facilities,
equipment and or material to improve efficiency of operations. This includes
any major engineering projects that impact production or warehousing and
distribution operations. The incumbent is responsible managing projects that
may involve business alliances in order to meet strategic plans for growth.
Liaison for wastewater contractors. Plan and prepare capital expenditures as
necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
-Works with maintenance and production management to develop,
evaluate and recommend methods for improving plant, utility efficiency and
reducing waste of product/materials.
-Develops interface with plant and maintenance management to ensure focus and
coordinated efforts.
-Provide Engineering support to wastewater department and contractors to
sustain the proper system operation and compliance with local and estates
regulatory agencies.
-Under the direction of the Plant Manager, plan and prepare capital
expenditures.
-Identifies future operating needs taking into consideration both current
production and plans for new product development and growth.
-Commissions and manages third party engineering, design and construction firms
to developing detailed feasibility and design studies.
-Conducts root cause analysis of issues and in-depth analysis of the
alternatives, based on information obtained in the studies and makes
comprehensive recommendations for improving and efficiencies of plant
operations.
-Works with local and state governmental agencies in obtaining the necessary
construction/engineering permits and approvals.
-Analyzes current engineering technologies and develops improved methods of
operation that will result in greater efficiencies. Analyzes efficiencies
gained and weighs these efficiencies against the cost of modification/change.
-Coordinates new projects in the production plant or warehouse. Works with
plant management, third party project engineers or equipment suppliers in the
installation, debugging and fine-tuning of equipment, which is needed for new
products or for improved efficiencies.
-Analyzes past cost trends, estimates project costs, and prepares
recommendations, which once implemented will maintain an efficient plant at
minimal investment. Develops and manages the capital expense budget.
-Works closely with plant management in scheduling construction with product
production in such a manner that no interruption in production/product delivery
is experienced and that proper sanitation is maintained
-Understands OSHA requirements and designs and supervises the
construction/engineering of faculties or production systems that will result in
compliance with current federal and state safety laws.
-Keeps current on new equipment and engineering technologies used in the food industry.
-Adheres to all Safety and GMP requirements.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Ensure all document filing and records are updated and
fulfilled timely.
-Manage all outside vendors related to utilities and projects.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
-Technical knowledge/ Ability to read and interpret drawings.
-Excellent project management skills including the ability to negotiate with
outside contractors and vendors.
-Excellent spreadsheet/project computer skills, Auto Cad expertise.
-Ability to develop and manage a project team both internal and external.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Ability to develop reports and make presentations that would be appropriate
for an audience of senior management.
-Flexible work scheduled to include weekend project work.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
-BS in Industrial,
Mechanical, Electrical or Process Engineering/ Master’s degree preferred.
-5 + years of related Engineering experience. |
