한국 전통무용의 아름다움, 뉴욕부터 델라웨어까지 행보로 선보여..
남부뉴저지통합한국학교(교장 김정숙) 예술단은 지난 10월 14일 하루 동안 뉴욕 인근에서부터 델라웨어 주에 이르기까지 커뮤니티 초청으로 다섯 개의 공연을 선보였다.

델라웨어 미술박물관에서 델라웨어 한인회 주최로 열린 코리안페스티벌에서는 부채춤, 모듬북, 검무 공연을, 남부뉴저지 보히즈 소재 이스턴리저널하이스쿨이 주관한 인터네셔널데이 행사에서는 한국창작무용 작약지증을, 포트리 커뮤니티센터에서 재미차세대협의회 주최로 열린 한복의 날 행사에서는 삼고무 공연을 펼쳤다.

하루 동안 250마일 이상의 거리를 종횡무진하며 풍성한 가을맞이 문화공연을 훌륭하게 치루어낸 남부뉴저지통합한국학교 예술단원들은 학생과 학부모, 교사가 모두 하나가 되어 한국문화의 아름다움을 알리는 데에 큰 기여를 했을 뿐 아니라, 인근 주민들로부터도 큰 관심을 받았다.

특히 한복의 날 행사에 학생들과 함께 참석한 국립전통예술중고등학교 교장 왕기철 명창은 삼고무 공연을 관람한 후 “미국 땅에서 한국 전통의 가락을 이렇게 제대로 훌륭하게 연주하는 2세 자녀들이 있다는 것이 매우 놀랍다”고 소감을 전했다.

The KSSNJ K-Arts Company (Principal Chung Kim), presented five performances on October 14th, ranging from locations near New York to Delaware, through community invitations. At the Korean Festival hosted by the Delaware Korean Association at the Delaware Art Museum, they showcased fan dance, Modeumbuk, and sword dance performances. At the International Day event organized by Eastern Regional High School in Southern New Jersey, they presented the “Peony Dance.” Additionally, at the Korean Hanbok Day event hosted by the Asian American Youth Council at the Fort Lee Community Center, they performed Samgomu (traditional three drum dance). Despite traveling more than 250 miles in a single day, the members of the KSSNJ K-Arts Company flawlessly executed the rich autumn cultural performances. Their unified efforts, involving students, parents, and teachers, greatly contributed to promoting the beauty of Korean culture. It also received significant attention from the local residents. In particular, Wang Ki-chul, the principal of the National High School of Traditional Korean Arts, who attended the Korean Hanbok Day event with students, expressed his amazement after watching the Samgomu performance: “It’s truly astonishing to see second-generation children playing Korean traditional melodies so excellently on American soil.”
